Size Introduction

Our clothes are sized according to UK sizing conventions which are fairly straightforward, for us anyway!

JACKETS
Jacket sizes are taken from the chest measured in inches. To find your chest size - Wearing a shirt and standing in a relaxed (not slouched) position with your arms loosely by your side, measure around the chest immediately under the arms across the pectorals. The tape should not be too tight - you should be able to insert a finger under the tape.

They then come in short (S) regular (R) or Long (L) which is chosen according to your height. As a rough guide the jackets are designed according to height for a man of “normal” proportions.

Short 5ft 5ins to 5ft 7ins 165cms to 170cms
Regular 5ft 8ins to 5ft 10ins 172.5cms to 178 cms
Long 5ft 11ins to 6ft 2ins 180 cms to 188cms

These do assume that you are a standard size. If you are long legged and have a short torso (body) then you MAY wish to go for a shorter jacket. On the other hand, if you have a long torso, then you MAY want to shop for a long. Choose the suit jacket length that covers your rear end without going any farther.

If in doubt then send us the Jacket length required and we shall be able to advise you. Wearing a shirt buttoned at the neck have someone run the tape from the bottom of the collar at the back of the shirt to the point at which you would like your jacket to finish. Alternatively take this measurement of a jacket that fits well.

TROUSERS
Normally when you buy a pair of trousers you will select the waist and inside leg.

If we are making your trousers we need only four measurements: The waist, the seat/hip, the inside leg and the outside leg - this latter measurement gives us the length and determines how high on the waist the trousers will sit.

Experience has taught us that the best and most reliable way to give us accurate trouser measurements is to get a pair of formal trousers that fit well. Use these as a guide.

Waist - Wearing a shirt stand in a relaxed position with your arms loosely by your side, measure around your natural waistline (usually at the bellybutton). The tape should not be TOO tight - you should be able to insert a finger under the tape.

Seat - This is the measurement around the widest part of the seat (all the way round the buttocks). The tape should not be too tight - you should be able to insert a couple of fingers under the tape.

Inside Leg - The inside leg is the length of the seam from crotch to trouser bottom. Most people will know this accurately - but it is advisable to confirm by measuring! Check this against a comfortable pair of formal trousers by measuring the trousers folded flat along the inside seam from the top of the crotch to the trouser bottom.

Outside Leg - This measurement gives us the length and determines how high on the waist the trousers will sit. A fairly standard pair of trousers will have the outside leg 10 inches longer than the inside leg. Check this against a comfortable pair of formal trousers by measuring the trousers folded flat along the outside seam from the top of the waistband to the trouser bottom.
